Australian Business in Africa

On the 11th of November, we hosted an online webinar ‘Australian Business in Africa’. This webinar provided an overview of the African economy and Australia’s bilateral trading relationship with countries within the African continent. We thank our guest speakers and panelists Duncan Harris, Jay Meek, James Mooney, Boban Tomic, Dirk Pretorious, and Andrew Cumpston for joining us and sharing their knowledge in this area.

With a rising middle class, high rates of growth and one of the youngest populations in the world Africa is attracting increasing interest from Australian businesses. With a two-way trade value of approximately $12 BN AUD, Australian businesses are investing and doing business in Africa notably in the following sectors; mining, resources, and METS, education, infrastructure, agribusiness, energy, healthcare, and fintech.

The audience attending this webinar also heard from Boban Tomic and Dirk Pretorius who shared their first-hand experience doing business in Africa and touched on some key challenges and success factors.
